Wine description
Koffieklip is a single-vineyard Chenin Blanc from old bush vines planted in 1984 in the dry, arid Swartland. The sandy soils over iron-rich ferricrete shale give the wine a distinctive combination of ripe fruit, depth and mineral intensity. Different portions of the vineyard are harvested at varying stages of ripeness to achieve a balance between richness and freshness. The result is a fuller, more powerful expression of old-vine Chenin Blanc, while retaining the natural acidity and energy that make the variety so compelling in South Africa. Rich yet balanced, Koffieklip offers ripe orchard and stone-fruit flavours, savoury mineral notes and a long, textured finish.
